Lipopeptides are metabolites produced by certain soil bacteria and are molecules of interest in biocontrol and a central research focus at the BioEcoAgro laboratory. They are being studied for their potential to contribute to more sustainable crop protection by offering alternatives to certain uses of synthetic pesticides.

The scientific objectives of such a congress are : • To advance fundamental understanding of microbial and metabolic mechanisms underpinning fermentation technology • To explore innovative biotechnological and engineering approaches for optimizing production • To foster meaningful dialogue between academic researchers and industry leaders to accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into scalable applications • To initiate new collaboration between academic and industrial researcher

Appointed as a Young Ambassador of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), Ange Olivier Parfait YAO is committed to promoting microbiology, scientific leadership, and international collaboration. A PhD candidate at Gembloux AgroBioTech (University of Liège), he develops Bacillus spp. and lactic acid bacteria-based probiotics for animal and plant health in Africa. His research is conducted within the European URBANE project (Horizon Europe), which advances innovative solutions for peri-urban agriculture.
